Short answer: Clearbit is no longer a separate product you can buy. Its data now lives inside HubSpot as built-in enrichment, so it only makes sense if HubSpot is your CRM. Apollo suits teams that want a prospecting database, sequencing and enrichment in one per-seat tool. LeadMagic suits teams that want an enrichment API priced by credits rather than seats, with no CRM lock-in.
The three names come up together because they all answer the same RevOps problem: company records with no industry, headcount or location, which means you can't segment, score or route. But they are now three very different kinds of product. This guide compares them on what you actually pay, what company data you get, how you access it (UI, API, MCP) and which CRM setups each one fits. Every price and plan detail below was checked on the vendor's own pages in September 2026.

Is Clearbit still available for company enrichment?
Not as a standalone tool. HubSpot bought Clearbit in 2023, and clearbit.com now simply says Clearbit "has joined HubSpot." Clearbit's own release notes list the shutdown of the free Clearbit Platform, Weekly Visitor Report, Clearbit Connect and TAM Calculator on April 30, 2025, and HubSpot's developer changelog confirmed the free Logo API shut down on December 8, 2025. As of September 2026 we could not find a way for a new customer to buy the standalone Clearbit Enrichment API. The data is sold as a feature of HubSpot.
What that feature looks like today, per HubSpot's data enrichment documentation (checked September 2026):
It lives on HubSpot records. Enrichment fills contact and company properties inside HubSpot, keyed on a work email for contacts and a domain for companies.
It doesn't use HubSpot Credits. HubSpot states that "data enrichment does not consume HubSpot Credits." That's a change from the credit-pack model many older comparison articles still describe.
It needs a paid HubSpot subscription. It's available on paid tiers across HubSpot's hubs, and a Super Admin has to turn it on.
Where Clearbit clearly wins: if HubSpot already is your CRM, there is nothing to integrate. New records get enriched where your reps already work, and the cost is folded into seats you already pay for. Where it loses: if you run Salesforce, Attio, Pipedrive or a warehouse, it isn't an option at all, and there's no public API to call from your own scripts or agents. We compared the two models in more depth in Databar vs Clearbit, and listed replacements in Clearbit alternatives for B2B data.
How much does Apollo cost for company enrichment?
Apollo sells seats, and each seat comes with a yearly credit pool. From apollo.io/pricing in September 2026:
Plan | Price (billed annually) | Credits |
|---|---|---|
Free | $0 | 900 per seat per year, granted monthly |
Basic | $49 per seat per month | 30,000 per seat per year |
Professional | $79 per seat per month | 48,000 per seat per year |
Organization | $119 per seat per month (min. 3 seats) | 72,000 per seat per year |
Apollo's credit table prices an email at 1 credit, a phone number at 8 credits and "enrich data" at 1 to 8 credits. Paid plans add CSV, CRM and API enrichment, automated CRM enrichment, job change enrichment and Apollo's own waterfall enrichment. The Free plan caps CRM enrichment at 100 records a month.
Apollo's strength is breadth in one tool: a large database, search filters, sequences, a dialer and enrichment under one login, with an MCP server for AI tools. The trade-off is that you pay per seat. If one RevOps person enriches the CRM for a team of ten reps, seat pricing may not match how you actually use the data. Apollo labels some of its pricing as introductory and subject to change, so recheck the pricing page before you budget. For a deeper cost breakdown, see Apollo pricing, and for other options, Apollo alternatives for data enrichment.
How much does LeadMagic cost, and what does a credit buy?
LeadMagic is an enrichment API first. Every plan gets the same endpoints, the API and an MCP server, and you choose a plan by credit volume. From leadmagic.io/pricing in September 2026:
Plan | Monthly price | Credits per month | Seats / rollover |
|---|---|---|---|
Basic | $49.99 | 2,000 | 1 seat, no rollover, no search |
Essential | $99 | 5,000 | 3 seats, up to 2 months banked |
Growth | $249 | 20,000 | 5 seats, up to 2 months banked |
Professional | $499 | 50,000 | Adds unmetered search API |
Ultimate | $849 | 100,000 | Adds unmetered search API |
Annual billing costs 10 times the monthly price. LeadMagic says credits are "only deducted on successful results." Its published costs include 1 credit per company from company search, 1 credit per valid email, 5 credits per valid mobile number and 0.25 credits per email validation.
LeadMagic's edge is transparent per-result pricing and developer access on every plan, so it drops easily into scripts, Clay tables or agents. The gap is the CRM layer. Its pricing page lists integrations with Clay, Apollo, Smartlead and Zapier, not a native HubSpot or Salesforce sync, so writing company data back to your CRM is a build step you own.
Which is best for company data: Clearbit, Apollo or LeadMagic?
None of these vendors publishes an independent, like-for-like accuracy benchmark for company fields, and any "X% accurate" figure you see in comparison posts is a vendor claim or a guess. The honest way to choose is by your stack and your usage pattern, then test on your own records.
Choose Clearbit (HubSpot's built-in enrichment) if
HubSpot is your CRM and you plan to stay on it
You want new records enriched automatically, with no integration work
You don't need to call enrichment from code, a warehouse or an AI agent
Choose Apollo if
Your reps will also use Apollo to prospect, sequence and call
Company enrichment is one part of a wider outbound workflow
Per-seat pricing matches how many people actually use the data
Choose LeadMagic if
You want to pay per credit, with seats shared across the team
You're enriching through an API, a Clay table or an MCP-connected agent
You're comfortable building the sync back into your CRM
How do you test a company enrichment provider before committing?
Take 200 to 500 company records from your own CRM, including the awkward ones: small companies, non-US companies, recent rebrands. Run them through each provider you're considering and score three things per field (industry, headcount, HQ country, revenue band, LinkedIn URL): did it return a value, does the value match what you can verify on the company's site or LinkedIn page, and what did the batch cost in real dollars. Firmographic gaps tend to cluster by segment, so a provider that looks strong on well-known US software companies can be thin on your actual market. Our guide to firmographic data for account targeting covers which fields matter most for scoring and routing.
Can you use these providers together?
Yes, and single-source gaps are the main reason to. On Databar you can run company lookups against several providers from one table, API call or agent. Here's what's actually in the catalog as of September 2026, so you know what's possible:
LeadMagic is a built-in provider: company data, funding data, competitors, job postings, email and mobile finders. It's also one of eight options in the "Lookup company data" waterfall, next to Owler, Diffbot, People Data Labs, ContactOut, CompanyEnrich, Muraena and Pubrio.
Apollo is available as a bring-your-own-key connector. You connect your own Apollo API key, so Apollo's plan terms still apply.
Clearbit enrichment is not available through Databar. The only Clearbit endpoint in the catalog is a company name search that returns matching domains.
A waterfall tries providers in the order you set and stops at the first one that returns data for the row. Lookups that come back empty aren't charged, so you only pay the provider that answered. One detail worth knowing: not every provider fills every column. In the company lookup waterfall, for example, funding comes from Owler, Diffbot, Muraena or People Data Labs, not from LeadMagic. So if funding is the field you need, put those providers first. How waterfall enrichment works walks through ordering and cost. If you're starting from contact emails rather than domains, see email-to-company enrichment. For the people side of the same decision, read our ContactOut vs PDL vs Diffbot comparison.
FAQ
Can I still get a Clearbit API key?
As of September 2026 we found no way for a new customer to buy the standalone Clearbit Enrichment API. Clearbit's free tools shut down on April 30, 2025, the free Logo API shut down on December 8, 2025, and Clearbit's data is now delivered as enrichment inside paid HubSpot subscriptions.
Does HubSpot's data enrichment cost extra credits?
According to HubSpot's knowledge base (checked September 2026), data enrichment does not consume HubSpot Credits. You do need a paid HubSpot subscription, and a Super Admin has to enable it.
Is Apollo or LeadMagic cheaper for enriching 5,000 companies a month?
It depends on seats. LeadMagic Essential is $99 a month for 5,000 credits, and company search costs 1 credit per company. One Apollo Basic seat is $49 a month billed annually, with 30,000 credits a year granted upfront, and Apollo prices enrichment at 1 to 8 credits per record. For one ops user, Apollo can be cheaper. Once several people need seats, the gap closes.
Which of the three works with Salesforce?
Apollo has a native Salesforce integration and extension. Clearbit's enrichment now works only inside HubSpot. LeadMagic's pricing page doesn't list a native Salesforce sync, so you would connect it through the API or an automation tool.
Do these tools charge when no data is found?
LeadMagic says credits are only deducted on successful results. HubSpot says enrichment doesn't consume credits at all. Apollo's pricing page doesn't state a no-result rule, so check its credit documentation. On Databar, lookups that return nothing aren't charged, but a partial record that returns some data is.
Try it on your own records
The fastest way to settle this is to run your own companies through several providers and compare what comes back. Databar's 14-day trial includes 100 credits, which is enough to test a small sample across LeadMagic and the rest of the company lookup waterfall. Start free or Book a founder demo.
